Is it suitable for composing without a computer?

The MIDI recorder includes a system track and 16 additional tracks, for a total of 17 tracks. It can store up to 10 songs of approximately 40,000 notes each and offers features such as real-time recording, punch-in/out, and track and event editing.

The 42-channel mixer complements these features, allowing you to adjust different elements of an arrangement separately, including their sound and effects. The main recording remains a MIDI recording, not an audio file.

Can you create your own accompaniments?

The CT-X3000 isn’t limited to its 235 built-in rhythms. Its rhythm editor lets you create user accompaniments with up to 8 parts, either by modifying an existing rhythm or by recording new data directly.

This feature is particularly useful for creating a style or accompaniment structure that isn’t available in the original library. It requires more programming than simply changing the rhythm from the front panel.

What are the four phrase pads used for?

The four pads let you record musical phrases and then trigger them instantly while playing. Up to 100 user phrases can be stored, with editing functions such as copying, deleting, and modifying phrases.

They can be used to prepare a rhythmic pattern, a melodic line, or a complementary part that is difficult to play simultaneously on the keyboard. Multiple phrases can thus enhance a performance by a single player.

How do I set up multiple configurations for a live performance?

The 128 registrations are divided into 16 banks of 8 memories. They are used to save detailed configurations so you can quickly recall the sounds, rhythms, tempos, and other parameters needed for different songs.

A Freeze function allows you to retain certain settings when changing registrations. This prevents you from accidentally changing a parameter that you want to keep consistent across multiple configurations.

Can you change sounds while playing?

The CT-X3000 offers 100 types of DSP, 24 reverbs, 12 choruses, 15 delays, and 10 general EQ settings. These effects can be adjusted to tailor a sound or the keyboard’s overall balance to a particular arrangement.

A pitch bend wheel is also available to vary the pitch of notes in real time. The arpeggiator offers 150 types, and the automatic harmonization feature offers 12 types to generate additional parts based on what you’re playing.

What connectivity options are available for advanced use?

The CT-X3000 features a USB Type B port for MIDI communication with a computer and a USB Type A port designed specifically for a compatible USB flash drive. It can also play WAV files from a USB storage device.

Two pedal jacks are available. The second jack supports a compatible expression pedal, allowing you to control a designated parameter with your foot while keeping both hands on the keyboard.

The headphone output also serves as the audio output. Therefore, the CT-X3000 does not have separate left and right line outputs like some higher-end stage-oriented keyboards.

Can you record audio to a USB flash drive?

The CT-X3000 can record a performance directly to a compatible USB flash drive in 44.1 kHz stereo WAV format. This feature is separate from the 17-track MIDI recorder and produces an audio file that can be used outside the keyboard.

The USB port is also used to play back compatible WAV files. It’s important to distinguish between MIDI multitrack work done in the internal sequencer and the audio recording of the final result to a USB flash drive.

Is it suitable for travel and live performances?

The CT-X3000 weighs 6.9 kg and measures approximately 94.8 x 38.4 x 11.6 cm without the music stand. It remains portable for rehearsals or performances, even though it is noticeably bulkier than a small entry-level Casiotone keyboard.

Its two 10 cm speakers are powered by 6 W + 6 W and allow you to play without additional amplification at home or at work. For a performance requiring a higher volume level, an external sound system is still necessary.

The keyboard can also run on 6 D-cell batteries, with a claimed battery life of approximately 10 hours using alkaline batteries. The AC adapter is included for stationary setups or extended use.
