The Bitters is a hyper-distorted reinterpretation of Alesis's multi-effects processor, the Bitrman. It's essentially a multi-effect on steroids, giving you individual settings for distortion and phaser, plus a third user-selectable effect called Bitters. This effect can be one of 4 different programs: Decimator, Bitcrusher, Frequency Modulation and Ring Modulation. The 3 effects are executed in series, but you can reverse the order so that Bitters comes first to create sonic chaos. Like the original, the Bitters works just as well with synths, drum machines and digital audio workstations as it does with electric guitars and basses. And because the original had no mix controls, the Bitters is infinitely more usable than the original ever was.

- Distort: Harmonic-rich digital distortion.
- Dual: Deep sine wave phaser speed, from 0Hz to 20Hz.
- Bitters: Depending on the program selected, turning this knob to zero removes it from the signal path.
- Mix: Dose your pre-Bitters signal with the Bitters output, from 0 to 100%.
- Program selector: Each program is listed twice to select the order of effects, either Distortion>Phaser>Bitters, or Bitters>Phaser>Distortion.
