"Greeny" is undoubtedly the most iconic of the original 1959 Les Paul Standard. Peter Green, its original owner, acquired it just before joining John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and recording "A Hard Road" in 1967. In 1970, Peter Green sold it for around £110 to Gary Moore, who would use it throughout his career, notably on "Black Rose" with Thin Lizzy or his signature track "Parisienne Walkways" (Back on the Streets album). In 1995, he paid tribute to Green by recording the album Blues for Greeny with the legendary instrument. Moore was forced to sell it back to Phil Winfield in 2006 for an estimated value of between $750,000 and $1.2 million. Greeny was acquired by various private collectors until Metallica's Kirk Hammett bought it from Richard Henry for less than $2 million in 2006. The Kirk Hammett Greeny 1959 Les Paul Standard solid body electric guitar (EIGCKH59LPSGNYNH1) is a reinterpretation of this legendary instrument. Its luthiery is characteristic of the Les Pauls of the Fifties. It is distinguished by its Gibson "Greenybucker" double-coil duo. The original Les Paul Greeny is renowned for the extraordinary out-of-phase sound of its pickups on the middle position of the pickup selector switch.
