Drum machine
The Hexinverter Mutant Machine is much more than just a Eurorack percussion module. Initially conceived as an analog snare drum generator, it has evolved into a true sound creation platform capable of producing kicks, snares, toms, drones, effects and experimental textures. Inspired by the famous circuits of the Roland TR-909, it takes the concept much further, thanks to an entirely analog architecture and particularly advanced modulation possibilities. It's a first-rate choice for Eurorack users looking for a creative, expressive module capable of exploring far beyond classic percussion.
Features
An extremely versatile percussion machine
The Mutant Machine can generate a wide variety of sounds from a single architecture. Big drums, snare drums, toms, electronic percussion, special effects or evolving drones are all accessible thanks to its numerous settings. This versatility covers a large proportion of the rhythmic and experimental needs of a modular system.
The TR-909's sonic heritage revisited
Inspired by the famous kick and snare circuits of the Roland TR-909, the Mutant Machine retains the percussive, punchy character that has marked the history of electronic music. However, its far more extensive modulation and tuning possibilities allow you to go far beyond traditional sounds and create totally original timbres.
100% analog design
No microcontrollers are used in sound generation. All signals are produced by dedicated analog components and carefully selected integrated circuits. This design guarantees natural behavior, organic variations and harmonic richness difficult to reproduce with digital systems.
Exclusive Inverter Core oscillators
The module incorporates the famous Inverter Core oscillators developed by Hexinverter. These circuits form the heart of its sonic identity, producing rich, dynamic waveforms particularly suited to advanced sound design.
Advanced modulation thanks to 13 CV and audio inputs
With its 13 modulation and audio inputs, the Mutant Machine integrates perfectly into complex Eurorack systems. You can control numerous parameters in real time to create evolving percussion, organic sequences or constantly transforming sound textures.
Wave Scanner function for evolving timbres
The Wave Scanner function lets you explore different waveforms and create particularly rich timbral variations. This technology opens up new possibilities for creating atypical percussive sounds or more experimental sound textures.
A truly complex oscillator for your modular system
Beyond its role as a percussion generator, the Mutant Machine can also function as a complex sound source or VCO. This dual use considerably enhances its value within a Eurorack system, and encourages the most creative experimentation.
External signal processing and direct control
Audio inputs allow external sources to be injected and processed through the module's analog circuits. The integrated Trigger button facilitates sound testing, tuning and live performance without the need for an external trigger source.
A modernized reissue from Erica Synths
Developed in collaboration with Hexinverter Électronique, this model benefits from a modernized design while retaining the sound architecture that made it such a success. Erica Synths now manufactures and supports this module, which has become a benchmark in the Eurorack universe.
