Guitar synthesizer

The MOTOR Pedal is an electro-mechanical synth voice that tracks your pitch in real time. Use it as a drone doubling your lines, or as a ring modulation or cross-modulation engine for your signal. This isn't an analog emulation or modeling; it's the sound of a spinning brushed DC motor, pushed to the limit and precisely controlled.

The MOTOR Pedal uses real-time pitch tracking to analyze your instrument's output signal. Whether you're using a guitar, bass, or microphone, the motor's rotational speed will precisely match the fundamental frequency you're playing. For example, to match a 440 Hz input, the motor will spin at 146 revolutions per second, activating the magnetic pickup and sensors three times per rotation.

A carefully calibrated inductor captures the actual motion of the motor's spinning coils, transforming mechanical energy into a raw electrical audio signal.

Technical sheet

  • Harmony Yes
  • Synth Yes
  • FOOT PEDAL: Innovative normal-action or maximum-action pedal with 5 unique pedal modes.
  • MOTOR: Raw electromagnetic capture of spinning coils. Loud, rumbling, magnetic.
  • MXD: Cross-modulates the motor with a digital waveform, creating saturated, metallic textures.
  • M-WAVE: Digital oscillator locked to the pitch and synchronized with the motor's output. A multi-timbral synth with an imperfect mechanical soul.
  • COIL MODE: Instead of spinning the motor with DC voltage, this mode injects AC current into the motor's coils to create resonant analog vibrations and metallic hums.
  • VOCODER MODE: 24-band digital vocoder that uses the motor's output as the carrier and your instrument's signal as the modulator. - ANALOG TONE BOOST: Powerful, tilt-type EQ to sculpt the engine output.
  • TWO VOLUME CONTROLS: Independent volume control for the original signal and the engine output.
  • MOTOR DRIVE: Heavy analog distortion for the engine output.
  • ENVELOPE: Go from sharp, punctuated hits to envelope tracking, all the way to long releases.
  • GLIDE: Applies a portamento curve to the engine.
  • VIBRATO: Classic pitch modulation, ranging from subtle movement to wild oscillation.
  • MOTOR INTERVAL SELECTOR: Allows you to shift the engine pitch by +/- 1 octave or in perfect fifths and fourths. - X-MOD MODE: Use amplitude modulation to cross-modulate the input signal with all motors.
  • ACCELERATOR: Create a wide range of controlled pitch changes, or set it to full throttle to push the motor to the limit.
  • BRAKE: Shift the pitch downward, or press the pedal fully to stop the motor.
  • CLUTCH: Temporarily disconnects the motor from pitch tracking, perfect for creating drones.
  • VOLUME: Use the spring-loaded pedal to create satisfying crescendos.
  • DRIFT: Play the pedal as a gentle whammy arm, or set it to full throttle for a full wipeout effect.
  • POWER: Operates on a standard 9V power supply (not included) with at least 500mA.
  • Connectivity: Additional MIDI functionality via 5-pin and USB-C.
