The GIBSON Custom Shop Murphy Lab 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue solid body electric guitar #85208 (LPR58PSL22406) belongs to the Murphy Lab collection inaugurated in 2021, for which a dedicated space has been created within the Custom Shop. The instruments crafted in this new department are incredible recreations of iconic Gibson models, true clones of the Golden Era. For 25 years, Tom Murphy has practiced reproducing the look and temperament of vintage guitars. Based on this expertise, Gibson collaborated with the master luthier to invent a new varnish formula that perfectly imitates the imperfections typical of 1950s/60s nitrocellulose, and to develop special manufacturing techniques.
