Custom Shop & Star's Music
The Gibson Custom Shop Made To Measure (M2M) program has been around since 2013. It allows you to place an order for the Gibson of your dreams (be it a Les Paul, an SG, an ES-335, an Explorer…), which you will have precisely determined the characteristics.
It is this program that we can call on to build our own M2M models. Check out this collection on the Star’s Music website.
If you want to build your dream guitar, just contact us so that we can select a reference model together (to be chosen from a list of instruments inspired in particular by the iconic guitars of Gibson's golden age), then the different options offered by the Custom Shop (body wood/neck/fingerboard, table grade, pickups, neck profile, fittings, colors, finish, etc.).
These specifications are then sent to the Custom Shop for validation, quotation and evaluation of the delivery time. All you have to do is accept the quote and wait! Do not hesitate to contact us to find out more.

Semi-hollow electric guitar
Unique copy bearing the serial number 150092. Net weight (without case): 3.52 kg.
This instrument was selected by our team at the Gibson Custom Shop in the USA. The GIBSON Custom Shop M2M Murphy Lab 1964 ES-335 #150092 (64ES335M2M19829) semi-hollow body electric guitar belongs to the Murphy Lab collection inaugurated in 2021, for which a dedicated area has been created within the Custom Shop.
The instruments created in this new department are incredible recreations of iconic Gibson models, true clones of the Golden Era. For 25 years, Tom Murphy has practiced reproducing the look and temperament of vintage guitars. Based on this expertise, Gibson collaborated with the master luthier to invent a new varnish formula that perfectly imitates the imperfections typical of 1950s/60s nitrocellulose, and to develop special manufacturing techniques. Each craftsman working in the Murphy Lab has been personally trained by Tom Murphy to become an expert in the aging process. Sold with Custom Shop case and certificate of authenticity. Since 2014, Gibson has been using so-called "Hot Hide Glue" with the characteristics of adhesives used in the 1950s.
Made from animal proteins, it has the particular advantage of simplifying maintenance and repairs.MaintenanceThe nitrocellulose varnish, as on vintage Gibson instruments, plays a major role in the instrument's "breathing" thanks to its porous nature (vibrations are not muffled by the varnish). To avoid damaging your guitar, we recommend Hercules stands with specially formulated, non-abrasive foams; for maintenance, Gibson's Vintage Restoration Kit ensures effective cleaning and polishing without risk.
