The 115 Sub A does more than just reproduce low frequencies. Its amplifier and DSP also contribute to the operation of the ELEMENTS MK2 column elements connected to the system.

The SnapLock system ensures tool-free mechanical assembly, and the built-in contacts transmit the signal between compatible components. Once the column is assembled, no visible speaker cables are needed between the subwoofer and the upper modules.

How can the system be adapted to the type of event?

The Flat, Contour, and Voice presets offer different starting points depending on the program being played. Remote mode is designed for configuration controlled via the HK Audio DSP CONTROL platform.

These presets speed up setup, but they do not replace the need to adjust the system based on the venue, speaker placement, and the desired sound level.

What does the network connection enable?

The Ethernet port is used to control the system and can also carry digital audio via Milan AVB. This allows multiple compatible devices to be integrated into a networked audio infrastructure and configured centrally.

Using Milan AVB requires a compatible network environment. A standard Ethernet connection is not sufficient to automatically ensure audio transmission between all devices.

What is the independent DSP output used for?

The DSP output allows you to send a processed signal to another active device, such as a monitor speaker, a nearfield speaker, or an additional bass system. It can therefore be used to expand a system without necessarily adding an external processor for each output.

Its processing features include a 10-band parametric equalizer, high-pass and low-pass filters, polarity reversal, a limiter, and a mute function. A delay of up to 50 ms also allows for the temporal alignment of a remote monitor speaker.

Can it be used for a delay line?

The combination of the DSP output and the delay, adjustable up to 50 ms, allows you to power an additional active speaker placed further back in the room. The delay can then be adjusted to better synchronize this speaker with the main system.

The delay setting must be adjusted based on the actual distance between the various sound sources. An incorrect value can, on the contrary, degrade the consistency of the sound coverage.

Is it suitable for heavy-duty live performance use?

The hybrid enclosure, the steel grille with anti-corrosion treatment, and the acoustic foam are designed to withstand the rigors of regular professional use. Two MultiGrip handles facilitate handling during loading, unloading, and setup.

However, the 15-inch size, built-in amplification, and reinforced construction mean it takes up more space and weighs more than a small, compact subwoofer. It is therefore best suited for situations where bass response and volume take priority over ease of transport.
