Complete pa system
The HK Audio ELEMENTS MK2 BIG BASE is a complete modular sound system designed for events that require higher volume levels and more bass than a compact, primarily vocal-oriented setup. It combines two ELEMENTS MK2 635 column modules, a spacer, and a 115 Sub A powered subwoofer to cover everything from conferences and corporate events to concerts, DJ sets, and live band performances. Its modular design is engineered for quick, clean, and scalable setup.
Key Features
- Complete configuration with 2 ELEMENTS MK2 635 modules, 1 spacer, and 1 115 Sub A active subwoofer.
- 15-inch subwoofer extending down to 38 Hz at -6 dB to provide greater low-frequency extension for musical applications.
- Built-in 1,500 W RMS amplification with a rated peak power of 3,000 W.
- Two column modules with a total of 12 3.25-inch drivers to form a compact line array with 90° horizontal coverage.
- SnapLock system with integrated connections between components for tool-free assembly and no visible cables along the column.
- DSP CONTROL, dedicated presets, and Milan AVB compatibility to integrate the system into more advanced professional setups.
What types of events is the BIG BASE suitable for?
The BIG BASE is designed for situations where speech must remain intelligible but where music playback also requires higher volume and deeper bass. It is therefore suitable for concerts, gala performances, DJ sets, corporate events, and places of worship that play amplified music.
Its 15-inch subwoofer makes it a better choice than a setup with a small subwoofer when the program includes a bass drum, bass guitar, electronic sequences, or recorded music with significant low-frequency content.
What difference does the 115 Sub A subwoofer make?
The ELEMENTS MK2 115 Sub A uses a 15-inch driver with a 3.5-inch voice coil. It achieves a maximum rated peak SPL of 128 dB and extends the frequency response down to 38 Hz at -6 dB.
This extra headroom is useful when you need to maintain a strong, sustained low-frequency presence. However, the choice ultimately depends on the venue, the number of people, and the style of the program being played.
How do the columns provide coverage?
Each ELEMENTS MK2 635 module incorporates 6 3.25-inch drivers paired with 6 Phase Plug waveguides. When combined, the two modules form a longer line array designed to better maintain sound level and intelligibility at a distance.
The specified dispersion of 90° x 5° per module helps focus the sound within the listening area. Actual coverage, however, depends on the mounting height, the room’s geometry, and the audience’s layout.
How is it installed?
The enclosure, spacer, and column modules are assembled using the tool-free SnapLock system. The signal is transmitted via built-in contacts between the components, eliminating the need for speaker cables running along the column.
The spacer positions the midrange/tweeter modules at an optimal height without adding unnecessary speakers. It therefore helps optimize coverage while maintaining a visually unobtrusive installation.
Does the DSP adjust automatically?
The system’s DSP detects the number of midrange/tweeter modules installed and applies the filters designed for that configuration. This simplifies setup changes when the system needs to be adapted to a different venue or event type.
The Flat, Contour, Voice, and Remote presets provide starting points suited to different applications. However, they do not replace level adjustment, physical system placement, or the overall sizing of the installation.
Can the BIG BASE be integrated into an audio network?
The Ethernet connection allows system control via HK Audio DSP CONTROL and also supports Milan AVB audio transmission. This feature facilitates integration into a centralized digital audio infrastructure.
Using Milan AVB requires compatible network equipment. It should not be confused with a standard Ethernet connection.
How many people is the system designed for?
HK Audio specifies an audience capacity of up to approximately 500 people for this configuration. This figure should be considered a general guideline that depends on the specific context.
A speech, a live concert, and a DJ set do not require the same headroom or the same amount of bass. The actual audience capacity covered therefore depends on the program, the venue, the target sound level, and the audience distribution.
