Subwoofer and Sound Reproduction

The POLAR 15 MK2 combines a 15-inch subwoofer with a midrange-tweeter column to cover the full frequency range of the signal. Its multiplex plywood subwoofer cabinet features a large volume and a rigid structure, designed to minimize resonance. This design is particularly well-suited for DJs, bands with a drummer, and acoustic ensembles using a cajón.

The column incorporates six 3-inch neodymium magnet drivers, handling the midrange frequencies, as well as a 1-inch tweeter paired with a constant-directivity horn. The 120° x 30° dispersion at -6 dB allows the sound to be distributed over a relatively wide area in front of the system. The specified frequency response ranges from 35 Hz to 20 kHz at -10 dB.

Amplification and Power

The Class D bi-amplified system powers the bass and midrange-treble sections separately. It delivers a total peak power of 2,000 W, with a specified maximum peak SPL of 130 dB. These specifications make it suitable for performances requiring high sound levels, taking into account the venue’s layout and the distance to the audience.

Built-in Mixer and Connections

The 4-channel mixer allows you to manage multiple sources directly from the POLAR 15 MK2. Two XLR/jack combo inputs accept microphones or line signals, with individual level controls and switchable phantom power for compatible condenser microphones. A high-impedance instrument input via a 6.35 mm jack allows you to connect a guitar, while a stereo RCA auxiliary input accommodates DJ equipment or an audio player, among other devices.

An XLR Mix Out output allows you to send the mixed signal to other audio equipment. The system also features a 5 V / 0.9 A USB-C charging port to power a smartphone, tablet, or compatible wireless microphone receiver. This port is for charging only and is not a USB audio interface.

DSP Settings and Bluetooth Streaming

The digital signal processing offers three preset modes—Music, Voice, and DJ—to quickly adjust the sound balance to the application. A 3-band general equalizer, with semi-parametric midrange controls, allows you to fine-tune the sound according to the source and playback conditions. The system delay, adjustable based on a distance expressed in meters, makes it particularly easy to integrate the POLAR 15 MK2 into a sound system with remote speakers.

Five user presets allow you to save configurations and recall them for recurring performances. Settings can be accessed via the LCD screen and the Push-to-Edit control. Bluetooth 5.0 enables audio playback from a compatible device, while the True Wireless Stereo feature allows two POLAR MK2 systems to be paired to stream a Bluetooth audio stream in stereo, without an audio cable connecting them.

Setup and Transport

The system consists of a subwoofer enclosure, a spacer, and a midrange-tweeter module. Reinforced connectors secure the column components together. The M20 FlexMount thread integrated into the subwoofer allows for the installation of a compatible bar designed to mount certain performance accessories, such as lighting, provided that the mounting and load requirements of the equipment used are met.

With an assembled height of 213.6 cm and a total weight of 38.1 kg, the POLAR 15 MK2 requires adequate space and appropriate handling conditions. The MultiGrip handles and additional carrying handles make it easy to move. According to the manufacturer, a padded cover for the base and a carrying bag for the column sections are included. A transport tray with wheels is available as an option.
