Solid body electric bass

Okoume body, bolt-on maple neck, Purpleheart fingerboard, 22 frets, Ibanez Dynamix H pickups, Ibanez active preamp. Used for decades by the maritime and aeronautical industries, Okoume (native to West Africa) is the wood of choice for electric guitars (John Suhr used it for many years).
This light, low-density wood can be considered a high-quality mahogany, with more pronounced high frequencies and an extended dynamic range, exacerbating the instrument's clarity. The fingerboard is made of Amaranth or Purpleheart. This is a relatively rare, high-quality species from South American forests. Its high density provides extended sustain, excellent dynamics and clarity.
It can be compared to Brazilian rosewood.
