Gypsy guitar
The SL100 model, particularly affordable for this class of instrument, features a solid red cedar top combined with mahogany back and sides in a beautiful satin finish. This combination of woods provides a warm sound with pronounced mid-range and a fluid dynamic response, as relevant for solo playing as for accompaniment.
Each SWING LÂG guitar comes with a dedicated case, specially designed for the Gypsy shape. Generously padded and featuring a semi-rigid structure, it provides excellent shock protection while remaining lightweight and easy to carry. Designed for both everyday use and travel, it combines safety, comfort and practicality, so you can take your instrument everywhere with you in complete peace of mind.
Born in the 1930s with Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club de France, gypsy jazz shaped a new musical identity. At the same time, in Paris, Italian luthier Mario Maccaferri was creating an iconic guitar that would define the sound and silhouette of this unique genre.
The SWING LÂG series pays tribute to this heritage, combining historical inspiration, renowned build quality, meticulous design and a sense of harmony.
Faithful to the historic construction of Gypsy jazz guitars, the SWING LÂG models adopt the traditional "small mouth" shape. Appreciated for its precise projection and defined articulation in solo playing, it also proves formidable for pumping, offering rapid response and excellent rhythmic legibility.
These instruments rely on the fundamental elements that shape the authentic sound of the genre: wooden bridge, metal tailpiece for optimal vibration transmission and characteristic attack, and Argentine strings, renowned for their clarity, tension and responsiveness.
While the open-work headstock and metal-axis tuners respect the original aesthetic and spirit, they incorporate oil-bath tuning machines for precise, stable tuning. The set is completed by a double-action truss rod, guaranteeing fine adjustment of the neck and increased reliability over time.
The result: instruments that combine authentic sound with modern demands, capable of imposing themselves in the mix while preserving the dynamic richness specific to gypsy jazz.
