Modulation, chorus, flanger, phaser & tremolo effect pedal
The MXR Flanger/Doubler reimagines the original MXR unit as a pedal, faithfully capturing the classic all-analog flanger and doubler effects that were iconic in recordings from the 1970s and 1980s.
Overview
The MXR Flanger/Doubler is designed for experimental musicians, offering the tools needed to blend and modulate your signal into rich, multi-layered textures. Equipped with authentic bucket-brigade devices and the original set of controls, this pedal preserves a wide range of textures, allowing you to explore timeless tones or sculpt unique soundscapes that push the boundaries of your sonic universe.
A flanger and doubler effect for dynamic sounds
Built around two distinct voices, the MXR Flanger/Doubler offers a flanger effect that produces dramatic, resonant movement, as well as a doubler effect that thickens your signal by adding a slightly offset second layer to create chorus effects or even a tight slapback delay.
Control Your Sound with Precision
Use the Doubler knob to choose between the two effects, then use the Manual, Width, and Speed controls to shape the tone, range of movement, and sweep rate of the effect. Intensity is adjusted via the Regen knob, which uses feedback to modulate the texture from smooth to aggressive. Once you’ve established your base sound, the Mix knob lets you blend the wet and dry signals to your liking.
View your settings in real time
Two LEDs on top of the MXR Flanger/Doubler indicate your instantaneous delay time, with the rate, brightness, and left/right activity determined by your Speed, Width, and Manual settings. This allows you to make quick and confident adjustments, even at high volumes.
Invert and explore new textures
To discover new sonic textures, flip the Invert switch to reverse the polarity of the wet signal, allowing you to explore sounds ranging from airy and hollow vocals to a powerful low-end punch.
Flexibility and Integration into Any Setup
The MXR Flanger/Doubler is designed for maximum flexibility and integrates easily into a wide range of setups. CV inputs and outputs allow you to connect synthesizers, sequencers, CV-compatible expression pedals, and other external devices. The Line Level switch ensures optimal performance when used with high-level signals.
Shape Your Soundscape
Whether you’re looking for a swirling vintage effect, a thick studio-style doubling, or want to push the boundaries of modulation, the MXR Flanger/Doubler gives you the control you need to create your own sounds. From shimmering textures to lo-fi warmth, this revival of a timeless classic will unlock thrilling and bold sounds on your own terms.
