Description
The U89Ai is a dual-diaphragm studio microphone.
The U 89 is a universal studio microphone in its applications. Its grille protects a dual-diaphragm capsule. A rotary switch under the grille allows a choice of five different polar patterns; consequently, the microphone adapts easily to large sound sources, when musicians are spread over a wide area, or to recording at great distances.
A more sophisticated version of the classic U 87 model, with 5 polar patterns, a two-position high-pass filter and a switchable attenuator, provides maximum flexibility.
The integrated preamp accepts sound pressure levels of up to 134 dB SPL without distortion - a figure that can rise to 140 dB. Another rotary switch activates a high-pass filter, which is effective from 80 Hz or 160 Hz.
