Snare drums
Pearl has drawn on 70 years of expertise to offer a balanced, powerful 100% maple snare drum. It will appeal as much to the novice drummer looking for upgradeable equipment as to the semi-pro drummer looking for a secondary snare drum.
A very well-placed series.
Decade snare drums correspond to the drum sets of the same name, and the very fact that they are offered individually is proof of the high quality of the production. The good news is that it's also economically competitive. For this new model, which sits above the Export range that needs no introduction, everything seems to have been done to present wood lovers with an instrument with a warm look and sound. The gamble paid off in every respect, and at this price, it's hard not to fall for it.
All the assets of a great instrument.
If we start from the principle that the character of a snare drum is judged by its material, fittings and a few other details that may escape the neophyte, the Pearl Decade combines a number of criteria to appeal to the widest possible audience. Of course, you have to be looking for a wooden barrel. And here, with maple, you won't be disappointed! In terms of finishes, there's a choice of 5 colors, which isn't often seen in this type of range, and (even more rarely!) the option of gloss lacquers or matte varnishes at the same price. The shells are very pretty, with an art deco design that fits in perfectly with the sound aesthetics on offer. Nothing has been left to chance.
An ideal instrument for all levels.
Historically, student snare drums have only eight shells (instead of ten for the top of the range), as is the case here. And while this certainly plays into a lightened addition, many jazzmen and soulmen greatly prefer the sonic openness this implies, especially for the snare edges, which sound much better during crushed rolls or ghost notes. Similarly, the 1.6 mm hoops are in the spirit of the sixties, with a sound ideal for pop where power and surgical precision are not always the priority. With the Pearl Decade slate black, we're aiming for the warmth provided by maple, and for many drummers who have already adopted metal, it's also the chance to acquire a beautiful wooden barrel for very little money.
