The PHILOSOPHERS TONE 2 COMPRESSOR is a pedal from Pigtronix. Generations of guitarists have sought clean, quiet sustain from a compressor, and this was the guiding research and design objective behind Philosopher's Tone, producing a compressor with 18 volts of internal headroom and naturally musical tone control.
First released in 2009 and provoking further success at Pigtronix, Philosopher's Tone 2 is a "best of" design, incorporating the best elements of previous iterations as well as a completely redesigned Grit knob for significantly greater versatility. Practitioners of the mystical and ancient art of alchemy have long sought an element called the Philosopher's Stone. They believed that, if discovered, it could transform lead into gold and confer immortality on its possessor. Philosopher's Tone 2 allows players to evoke brilliant sustain, soaring main tones and articulation on all six strings.
