The SPACEMAN EFFECTS Aurora Flanger Standard Red compact effects pedal is an analog BBD bucket-brigade circuit flanger that gives you a powerful 5-mode modulation bus with 2 LFOs, 2 band emulations and a static comb filter. This provides several shades of spatial flange, vibatro, chorus, phase and filter effects with the analog signal sound. The inclusion of a dedicated wet/dry MIX control gives you acute tonal control, while manually operated TAPE modulation and LFOs open up new avenues of instant expressivity.

The Aurora's modulation bus features three types of modulation: two LFO modes, two tape modes and an unswept comb filter mode. Add reflections and movement with shallower WIDTH and MIXING settings. Turn up REGEN, WIDTH and RANGE and drive deep rhythmic sweeps. LFO 1 mode produces a triangular waveform ideal for a traditional flanger effect at lower speeds, and lush chorus and phasing sounds at moderate speeds. At higher LFO speeds, set your MIX to get completely wet and trigger a vibrato offsetting the odd seasickness. LFO 2 mode offers discrete control over rise and fall times, allowing you to create rise, triangle and fall waveforms. The ability to control the LFO slopes independently allows for interesting asymmetrical modulation, particularly useful for flange and pitch-shifting settings. A quick press on the TRIG footswitch resets the LFO downwards, and holding the TRIG switch keeps the LFO low. Aurora's TAPE modes let you imitate the cassette deck manipulation of early flange effects. Just as if you were placing your finger on the edge of a cassette deck, holding the TRIG pedal down starts the upward sweep, and releasing the TRIG pedal starts the downward sweep. Careful use of the REGEN, WIDTH and MIX controls can tame or exaggerate the effect to suit any application. Finally, COMB mode freezes the modulation and uses the RATE & RANGE controls to define two different static delay times, which can be switched between using the TRIG pedal. The comb filter effect can be used in a variety of ways, from simple thickening to exotic, chaotic and robotic noise.
