A guitar fitted with a multi-scale with fanned frets offers two major advantages: - optimized string tension, enabling the use of smaller string gauges for greater sustain - less muscle and tendon stress The fingerboard is made of Ebonol, an excellent substitute for Ebony. Ebonol is a synthetic/high-pressure laminate made from layers of paper and phenolic resin, offering similar visual and tonal characteristics to Ebony. Often used in the design of bowed string and wind instruments (notably clarinets, and for fretless bass keys).
