Multi-scale guitar
The STRANDBERG Boden Prog NX 6 (BD6TCT-24P-L-F-DB ) multi-scale, solid-body electric guitar with fanned frets is a model of ergonomics and versatility. The combination of hybrid lutherie (chambered Swamp Ash body, bolt-on neck in Maple, 24-fret Ebonol fingerboard) and a set of Suhr humbucking pickups makes it equally at home in a wide variety of musical styles.
However, it has been specifically designed for Progressive Metal and High-gain saturation guitarists, with superb articulation and an emphasis on the upper-midrange frequencies. Superb and singular, the Boden is objectively impossible to get to grips with, and difficult to put down once you've laid your hands on it. The fingerboard is made of Ebonol, an excellent substitute for Ebony. Ebonol is a synthetic/high-pressure laminate made from layers of paper and phenolic resin, and offers similar visual and sonic characteristics to Ebony. Often used in the design of bowed string and wind instruments (notably clarinets, and for fretless bass fingerboards), an instrument equipped with a multi-scale fingerboard with fanned frets offers two major advantages: - optimized string tension for modern tuning (down-tuning) while maintaining optimal intonation - less muscle and tendon stress.
