Acoustic bass
The Tanglewood TW155 A/Bass Super Jumbo, from the mid-range Premier series, is a Super Jumbo electro-acoustic bass with solid spruce top and laminated mahogany body that effectively fills an under-supplied category. It is equipped with the B-Band A3T preamp, with on-board tuner.
The woods- The top of the Tanglewood TW155 A/Bass is made of solid spruce; spruce is the benchmark species for acoustic guitar and bass soundboards (also used to make violins and mandolins). The back and sides are made of laminated mahogany; mahogany is a dense wood producing a full, particularly warm sound, with "long-lasting" sustain.DesignA solid top is obtained by gluing together two symmetrical pieces, cut lengthwise and edgewise using the "butterfly" technique (the raw board is sawn through the center).
- Advantages: the guitar will evolve and generally improve over time - Disadvantages: structural fragility, requiring care to be taken with the instrument.
