The Universal Audio OX Amp Top Box is a power attenuator / speaker cabinet simulator for guitarists equipped with a tube amp. The best of your tube amp: anywhere, at any volume. The top-of-the-range OX Amp Top Box is a reactive loadbox, i.e. a sound level attenuator that lets you use a tube guitar amp with or without its speaker cabinet. With OX, guitarists can play and record at their amp's best settings: from clean to full-throttle, right up to the limit of saturation or any other gain level. In addition, OX features another output, with the real amp signal passing through authentic emulations of various speaker cabinets, recording mics, studio room mics, and a processing chain for a definitive, album-worthy sound.
OX is the first Universal Audio product to use the new Dynamic Speaker Modeling technology, which differs completely from the use of impulse response (IR) found in other products on the market. OX is capable of authentically recreating the behavior of a speaker cabinet cone pushed to its limits, with the harmonics that are generated as a function of frequencies and connected amp gain (the 'cone cry' phenomenon).
