Electric guitar combo amp
The Vox AC30C2X amp, a contemporary interpretation of the legendary AC30 combo, produces 30 watts via a quartet of EL84 tubes (3 x ECC83 preamplifiers) and two excellent 12" Celestion Alnico Blue loudspeakers; the latter enhance the performance and expressiveness of the basic version (AC30C2).
The Alnico Blue is a true classic, which began its career as a radio speaker that was modified to suit electric guitar amplification. Its original incarnation (G12 T530) came in several versions, but it's the "Blue", standard equipment on VOX amps of the time, that has gone down in history. The Blue Alnico found favor with Brian May, thanks to its natural compression, warm bass, mellow highs and crystal-clear highs. Two channels, Normal and Top-Boost, provide a solid range of sounds with a strong personality, where the Vox temperament is omnipresent. Each channel has its own Volume control, while the Top Boost mode features versatile equalization thanks to the interaction between the Treble and Bass knobs. In the Master section, both channels can be adjusted using the Tone Cut and Volume controls, the former modifying the equalization directly on the power stage, and the latter operating in conjunction with the individual volumes of each channel to precisely define the distortion ratio.
For smoothing and depth, the VOX AC30C2X features a spring reverb (with level control) and a tremolo (with speed and amplitude controls). These can be activated using the optional VFS2A footswitch.
