Bass preamp
Co-developed with bassist Ian Martin Allison, the WALRUS AUDIO Mantle Analog Bass Preamp // D.I. is a premium-grade tool for professional electric bassists.
Combining a high-impedance JFET buffer, a high-performance input transformer inspired by Neve systems, and an output transformer reminiscent of the 312 API microphone preamp, the Walrus Mantle produces magnificent studio console sounds. They will enhance your playing (responsiveness, reproduction of all its nuances), with maximum clarity and amplitude, without distorting the instrument's identity. The internal voltage boost to +24v further exacerbates these qualities, while the rotary-switch equalization (eleven modes) offers precise control and incredible versatility.
Active/Passive switches with -10dB pad and Ground Lift for eliminating ground loops will also prove very useful. The connectivity is equally complete, with an unbalanced 6.35mm TS input, an unbalanced 6.35mm TS output for amp/effects chain, and balanced male XLR for DI functionality. The Mantle will be an essential platform for working your sound on a hyper-sturdy, three-dimensional foundation. Bass is dense, mids thick and precise, treble defined and articulate.
Ian Martin Allison is one of the most influential bassists on the contemporary scene, not only for his playing - in the studio and on stage - but also for his central role in the world's largest teaching platform, Scott's Bass Lessons.
