Adam SUB-10-PRO

The ADAM Audio Sub10 PRO is an active subwoofer equipped with a 10-inch driver, designed to complement a stereo or multichannel monitoring system. Its DSP and network control via ADAM Control allow you to adjust the connection to the speakers and integrate acoustic correction profiles.

Speaker and Amplification

The 10-inch woofer features a fiber-reinforced paper cone and a rubber surround that allows for long excursion. It reproduces low frequencies to complement the main speakers, helping to control their presence in a production or mix.

The Class D amplifier is paired with a DSP-controlled limiter to protect the electrical and mechanical components. ADAM Audio also states that it has optimized the port geometry using finite element analysis to reduce air turbulence.

Stereo and Multichannel Bass Management

Stereo mode supports routing for a 2.1 configuration. Crossover and phase settings allow you to adjust the connection to the speakers, while the time alignment feature in ADAM Control is used to adapt the subwoofer’s delay to the setup.

LFE mode applies a 120 Hz cutoff to the low-frequency effects channel of a multichannel system, such as Dolby Atmos. Wide mode utilizes the subwoofer’s available bandwidth when bass filtering and management are handled by an external processor. It does not provide full-range reproduction comparable to that of a main speaker.

Sonarworks Equalization and Correction

ADAM Control provides access to four bands of parametric equalization to adjust specific areas of the subwoofer’s response. The software also allows you to manage firmware updates via a network connection.

The DSP can host filters created in Sonarworks SoundID Reference, particularly for a setup combining the Sub10 PRO with ADAM Audio A-Series speakers. Calibration requires a measurement microphone and the software with a license appropriate for the configuration. These settings complement the subwoofer’s placement and the room’s acoustic treatment.

Connections and Footswitch Control

The balanced XLR and TRS analog inputs and outputs allow the subwoofer to be integrated between a line-level source and the monitor speakers using appropriate cables. A balanced connection can reduce noise when the source and cabling allow it.

The AES3 input and output carry two digital audio channels up to 24-bit/96 kHz with compatible equipment. A dedicated footswitch input allows you to enable or bypass bass management from your workstation.

Construction and Installation

The MDF cabinet features reinforcements that support the port. A steel grille protects the speaker from accidental contact, especially when the cabinet is installed under a desk. Placement remains critical for balanced bass response at the listening position.
