Folk guitar
The ATKIN The Forty Seven (Aged Sunburst) is much more than just a steel-string acoustic guitar—it’s a true, handcrafted acoustic work of art that will delight musicians in search of authentic tones.
Overview
Carefully handcrafted in England in small batches, the ATKIN The Forty Seven (Aged Sunburst) is a “Slope Shoulders” Concert-style steel-string acoustic guitar with a short scale length of 24.7/8 inches. Its visual identity, as well as its tonal character, are undeniably and truly vintage.
Exceptional craftsmanship for an unparalleled sound
Its construction is exemplary, featuring premium-grade woods:
- Roasted Sitka spruce top
- Mahogany back and sides
- "Pre-war scalloped" braces
- Mahogany neck
- Fingerboard and bridge made of Santos rosewood
Santos rosewood offers a high-quality tonal compromise between Indian rosewood and ebony. In addition to giving the wood an elegant patina, the roasting ("roasted" or "baked") process improves the stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance of the instrument, while protecting it from temperature fluctuations, humidity, and mold.
Warm and precise tones in a compact size
This combination of features produces tones that are both warm and clear, with thick, precise bass, rich mids, and generous highs. Its acoustic volume is remarkable given its modest 00-style dimensions.
A versatile guitar, ideal for fingerpickers and blues enthusiasts
The Atkin The Forty Seven is an extremely appealing “small-body” acoustic guitar. Thanks to its flawless construction, high-quality woods, and bracing calibrated for its size, it offers an excellent balance between projection, tonal balance, and expressiveness. While it is considered versatile, it should particularly appeal to fingerpickers and fans of blues and bluegrass.
