The PX-S1100RD features an 88-key Smart Scaled Hammer Action Keyboard. This hammer-action mechanism is designed to provide resistance suited to piano playing, with velocity response adjustable across five levels.

This setting affects how the sound responds to the force of the keystroke. It does not alter the mechanical resistance of the keys.

Multi-dimensional Morphing AiR Sound Engine

Multi-dimensional Morphing AiR technology manages piano sounds and various behaviors associated with the acoustic instrument, including string resonance and resonance related to the use of the sustain pedal. The PX-S1100RD offers 18 tones with a maximum polyphony of 192 notes.

The layer and split functions allow you to play two sounds together or assign different sounds to specific zones of the keyboard, respectively. Effects such as the hall simulator, surround sound, chorus, and brilliance control round out the sound capabilities.

Built-in Amplification and Audio Outputs

The piano features two 16 x 8 cm speakers powered by a 2 x 8 W amplifier. Therefore, no additional audio system is needed for playing at home or practicing alone.

For a more comprehensive setup, two line outputs allow you to connect the piano to an external amplifier, a mixing console, or a compatible interface. Two headphone jacks are also available for silent practice.

MIDI and Audio Recording

The PX-S1100RD offers both MIDI and audio recording. MIDI recording captures performance data, while audio recording captures the actual sound.

This distinction is helpful when choosing the right mode: MIDI remains editable as musical data, whereas an audio recording captures the sound produced at the moment of performance.

Bluetooth Audio and Bluetooth MIDI with the WU-BT10

The WU-BT10 adds Bluetooth Audio and Bluetooth MIDI Low Energy to the PX-S1100RD. Bluetooth Audio is used to receive music from a compatible device, while Bluetooth MIDI transmits performance data to a compatible app or device.

These two functions are distinct. Bluetooth Audio does not mean that the piano can send its own sound to Bluetooth headphones or speakers.

Learning Features and Duo Mode

The piano includes a metronome, a Duo mode, and 60 songs. Duo mode divides the keyboard into two zones with comparable ranges, which can be useful for teacher-student practice on the same instrument.

The PX-S1100RD is also compatible with Casio Music Space on compatible smartphones and tablets. The app provides additional access to the piano’s practice features and settings.
