The Casio Privia PX-S5000BK is an 88-key portable digital piano designed for intermediate to advanced pianists who want a hammer-action keyboard in an instrument that is 232 mm deep. It is suitable for serious practice at home, in the studio, or on the go. It is less suitable for those primarily looking for a wide range of sounds and arrangement features.

A keyboard designed to develop touch sensitivity

The PX-S5000BK combines a hammer-action mechanism with white keys made of a composite of spruce wood and resin. The five sensitivity levels adjust how the piano translates your touch into volume and tone, without altering the key resistance.

The hammer response, key release, and string and pedal resonance are also adjustable. This allows you to tailor the sound to your playing style and repertoire.

Compact for home, practice, and the stage

Measuring 1,322 mm wide, 232 mm deep, and 102 mm high (excluding accessories), the PX-S5000BK takes up significantly less space than a cabinet-style digital piano. Weighing just 11.5 kg, it’s easy to transport between home, rehearsal, and the stage.

Two headphone jacks allow two people to play together without disturbing those around them. Two 16 x 8 cm speakers (8 W + 8 W) deliver sound without the need for additional speakers.

23 Sounds, Layer, and Split

The piano offers 23 sounds and a maximum polyphony of 192 notes—that is, the number of notes that can sound simultaneously. Layer overlays two sounds, such as a piano and strings. Split assigns different sounds to the left and right hands.

Effects, including reverb and chorus, allow you to adjust the sound to suit the playing context.

MIDI and Audio Recording

The built-in MIDI recorder supports two tracks, for a total of approximately 10,000 notes. It saves your performance data: you can record one hand and then the other, and play back the result directly on the piano.

The audio recorder saves audio files (up to 99 recordings of about 25 minutes each) to a USB flash drive, which is required for this feature.

Bluetooth Audio and Bluetooth MIDI

Bluetooth Audio receives audio from a smartphone or tablet and plays it through the piano’s speakers: you can play along with a backing track. Bluetooth MIDI sends your performance data to a compatible device or app, such as CASIO MUSIC SPACE.

This MIDI connection does not transmit the piano’s sound to Bluetooth headphones.

Included Accessories and Upgrades

The piano comes with an SP-3 pedal, a music stand, a power adapter, and the WU-BT10 adapter. The SP-3 is a single pedal. To use the forte, soft, and sostenuto pedals, as well as the half-pedal for controlling note sustain, you’ll need to add the SP-34 three-pedal unit, sold separately.

The LINE OUT L/MONO and R outputs connect the piano to powered speakers, a mixer, or a sound system. It also runs on six AA alkaline batteries, providing approximately four hours of battery life when no power outlet is available.
