The Dexibell VIVO S2 is a 68-note stage piano designed for musicians who want to travel light without sacrificing a full range of sound and MIDI capabilities. With its TP-8P semi-weighted keyboard, a weight of 8.8 kg, and battery-powered operation, it’s particularly well-suited for rehearsals, concerts, mobile performances, and setups where space is limited. However, it should be chosen for its portability and stage features, not for the heavy touch of an acoustic piano.

Is the 68-note layout suitable for live performance?

The TP-8P keyboard features 68 slightly weighted double-contact keys. It starts on the same low A as an 88-note keyboard but reduces the range in the treble to maintain a more compact size.

This compromise suits keyboardists who switch between acoustic pianos, electric pianos, organs, pad sounds, or synthesized sounds and who regularly transport their instrument. On the other hand, the VIVO S2 does not use a hammer-action mechanism: it will be less suitable for pianists who prioritize the feel of an acoustic keyboard above all else.

Can you set up splits and control other instruments?

The VIVO S2 organizes the keyboard into four internal parts—Main, Lower, Coupled, and Pedal—along with four MIDI zones. This allows you to distribute multiple sounds across the keyboard, layer them, or reserve certain zones for controlling external MIDI equipment.

A joystick provides direct access to pitch bend and modulation. It is particularly useful with synthesizer sounds or other programs whose parameters respond to these controls in real time.

What sounds can be used and added?

The Advanced T2L engine combines sampling and modeling. The library includes 180 sounds and over 100 organ presets, including several families of tone-wheel, transistor, and pipe organs.

The 3.2 GB of Wave memory is user-editable. Dexibell sounds as well as SoundFont files can be loaded into it, allowing you to adapt the library to your repertoire rather than being limited to the original installed content.

How do you integrate it with a computer or audio setup?

The main left and right outputs use 6.35 mm jacks, with mono operation possible via the left output. For a direct connection to a mixing console or interface that only has XLR inputs, you’ll need to provide the appropriate cables or adapters.

The USB To Host port transmits MIDI as well as digital audio for both input and output with iOS, Linux, and Windows-compatible systems. A second USB To Device port accommodates a USB flash drive and also supports MIDI.

A stereo auxiliary input via mini-jack allows you to connect an external audio source. Two headphone outputs are available: one via 6.35 mm jack and the other via mini-jack.

What can you do with Bluetooth?

Bluetooth Audio operates in reception mode: a smartphone, tablet, or other compatible source can send audio to the VIVO S2. This feature does not mean that the keyboard’s sound can be transmitted to Bluetooth headphones or speakers.

Bluetooth MIDI BLE 4.2 handles MIDI data separately. It is used for wireless communication with compatible apps and devices when MIDI functionality is supported.

Can it really work without a power adapter?

The VIVO S2 can be powered by the included AC adapter or by 8 rechargeable Ni-MH AA batteries. Batteries are not included, and Dexibell specifies that you should not use alkaline, carbon, or lithium batteries instead.

The batteries cannot be recharged inside the keyboard. Therefore, you’ll need charged Ni-MH batteries and an external charger to fully take advantage of this portable operation.

What pedals can be connected?

There are three inputs. The first accepts a compatible progressive sustain pedal, the second can be assigned a function, and the third can be used, for example, for an expression pedal or another assigned function.

This configuration allows musicians who use foot controls while playing to go beyond a simple sustain pedal, but the additional pedals required for these uses must be purchased separately.
