Overdrive, distortion & fuzz effect pedal
The EHX Percolator is an innovative pedal that combines history and mystery, offering a unique sonic palette that will appeal to guitarists seeking new textures.
Overview
The EHX Percolator is inspired by an original design that originated in a Milwaukee audio repair shop in the 1970s. This pedal has become a must-have for its bold tones, ranging from gritty overdrive to searing fuzz, while adding modern controls to a raw, wild sound.
Versatile tones tailored to your playing style
The pedal’s tone is characterized by asymmetric clipping that emphasizes second-order harmonics, offering an interactive tonal experience that dynamically responds to your playing style. The sonic possibilities are nearly endless, allowing you to transition from a mellow tone to a punchy fuzz.
A simple yet effective control interface
The EHX Percolator features an easy-to-use set of controls consisting of three knobs and a single switch:
- HARMONICS: Controls input gain, from overdrive to fuzz distortion.
- BIAS: Adjusts the bias of the gain circuit, creating sounds ranging from a smooth drive to pseudo-octave fuzz and Velcro-like fuzz tones.
- BALANCE: Adjusts the overall output of the effect.
The DRIVE/FUZZ switch activates the clipping diodes for rich fuzz tones. In DRIVE mode, without the diodes, the pedal behaves like a transistor-based drive pedal, offering a raw, organic character that’s both mellow and crunchy.
Additional features for flexible playability
Under the hood, an adjustable potentiometer lets you further optimize the sub-octave sound and boost the gain to achieve massive distortion with an extra rumble. In addition, the EHX Percolator features a true bypass and a switch with latching/momentary action. Clicking the switch engages normal latching mode, while holding it down allows for a momentary switch between bypass states to create a burst of fuzz, instantly returning to bypass as soon as you release the switch.
