The EPIPHONE Artist Collection Eric Church Hummingbird Dark (EAECCBNH1) is the signature model of the American country music singer-songwriter, who is hugely popular in his home country for his unique compositions that elegantly blend country, Southern rock, and outlaw rock. He is also known for his energetic live performances and his authenticity.
After breaking out with his debut album *Sinners Like Me* in 2006, he went on to achieve success with *Chief*, *The Outsiders*, *Mr. Misunderstood*, and *Desperate Man*, including hits such as “Springsteen,” “Drink in My Hand,” and “Record Year.”
The Eric Church Hummingbird Dark is directly inspired by the 1960 Gibson Hummingbird, a “Square Shoulder” Dreadnought that quickly became an acoustic guitar classic—notably thanks to Keith “The Rolling Stones” Richards, who used it to record “Satisfaction” “Play With Fire,” and “Under My Thumb.”
It features a European spruce top paired with a laminated mahogany body, a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. This traditional combination produces warm tones with pronounced mids, yet retains clarity thanks to the European spruce top.
European spruce is generally reserved for the highest-end models. It has a distinctive tonal character, combining the amplitude of Adirondack spruce, remarkable responsiveness (superior to that of Sitka spruce), and a warmth reminiscent of cedar.
The Dreadnought body style provides generous volume, making it ideal for “unplugged” acoustic performances.
The Fishman Presys VT preamp—as intuitive as it is faithful to the guitar’s deep character—enables high-quality recordings on stage or in the studio.
Designed for intermediate-level musicians, it offers a gateway to the Gibson sound at a reasonable price. It might even appeal to more experienced guitarists who need a high-quality instrument they won’t hesitate to take with them in their everyday lives.
