Electric guitar combo amp
The FENDER Limited Edition '68 Custom Pro Reverb Pewter (2278006038) is an electric guitar amplifier in combo format, featuring an all-tube circuit (40 watts, 2x 6L6, 3x 12AX7, 2x 12AT7), 12" Celestion Redback speaker, reverb and tremolo. The cabinet, whose size has been compacted compared to the original 1960s model, is made of Meranti (7-ply) and enhanced by a superb Pewter finish.
1968 was a transitional year for Fender amplifiers, whose tones remained unchanged but whose cosmetics were revised, with a silver and turquoise (aka Silverface) control panel combined with an aluminum grille.
The circuitry of the '68 Custom Pro Reverb has been significantly reworked for both simplicity and versatility. The single-channel option is compensated for by the addition of a midrange control, giving it great tonal flexibility.
The 12" Celestion Redback loudspeaker is an undeniable added value. Even at high volume, bass remains firm, midrange consistent and treble clear. It contributes to a nervous, articulate response that captures every nuance of your playing, from clean to crunch.
Like any self-respecting Fender amp, the '68 Custom Pro Reverb excels in clean sound. But fans of blues, grunge or indie saturation will be well served, with hyper-warm, organic, responsive textures. 40 watts are enough for use on most stages, but it will also work wonders in the recording studio.
