Solid body electric bass
The Fender® American Vintage II series is a remarkable revisiting of the revolutionary designs that changed the course of music history. Each of these guitars and basses brings you authentic Fender sound and craftsmanship, with period-accurate bodies, necks and hardware, high-end finishes and pickups configured to the year of the original instrument.
The late 1950s and early 1960s marked a turning point in the development of the Precision Bass®, a period of transition during which many new elements appeared and became inseparable from the P-Bass®. By 1960, the design of the P-Bass had eclipsed the early Telecaster®-inspired lines. The bass now featured a Strat®-style headstock, generous curves, pickguard-mounted electronics and a four-bridge bridge. The 1960 Precision Bass featured a Sunburst 3 tricolor finish and a Tortoise Shell 4-ply pickguard, a more refined aesthetic destined to endure.
The American Vintage II Precision Bass 1960 brings back the sound and feel of the original, thanks to a high-end alder body, a Pure Vintage '60 P-Bass split-coil pickup, a maple neck with a more substantial "C" profile, and a rosewood slab fingerboard with a 7.25" (184 mm) radius.
American Vintage II series instruments are direct descendants of the original Fender models. They are designed for musicians who appreciate the brand's distinctive sound and feel, and are built to the highest quality. These are Fender electric guitars and basses in their purest form: Fender American Vintage II, legendary instruments.
