Electric guitar preamp in rack
The FRIEDMAN Jake E Lee IR-J Dual Tube Preamp & DI is a high-quality two-channel tube preamp (2x 12AX7). The guitarist behind Ozzy Ozbourne (1983's Bark at the Moon and 1986's Ultimate Sin), Badlands and, more recently, Red Dragon Cartel, is a devotee of Marshall amps from the 1970s and 1980s. Based on the artist's signature Friedman JEL-100 and JEL-20 amps, the IR-J produces typical Plexi-like tones, or more raucous ones in the vein of 1980s Master Volume amps. Both feature independent controls. A boost inspired by the legendary Ibanez Tube Screamer, adjustable in volume and tone, can be activated at any time via a dedicated footswitch.
For direct console capture, the IR-J is equipped with an ultra-low-latency SYNERGY circuit that reproduces signal processing via power amp > IR speaker cabinet > microphone. A 500 Mhz ARM DSP processor is dedicated to this function, with results far superior to the vast majority of competing products. The included Friedman editing software lets you adjust the power stage parameters of each channel (Thump, Presence, Low-Pass Filter controls), as well as load other IRs, activate Boost Lock mode, activate/deactivate the effects loop and save your settings in MIDI (128 presets).
