Folk guitar
Introduced in 1960, the Gibson Hummingbird is a steel-string acoustic guitar as timeless as the J-45, J-200 or Martin D-28. It has accompanied most legendary musicians in their careers.
A must-have electro-acoustic steel-string acoustic guitar, the GIBSON Modern Collection Hummingbird Special (MCSSHBSPCHB) has most of the features of the original model, with identical all-solid-wood construction (Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, Utile neck, rosewood fingerboard), but differs from its predecessor in its reduced body depth, which Gibson has dubbed "Concert Body Depth". Slightly more compact, with optimized ergonomics, it remains acoustically relatively powerful and very well balanced, with an even frequency balance (dynamic lows, generous mids, musical highs).
A LR Baggs Element Bronze preamp will facilitate its amplification in concert or studio (volume/tone controls in the soundhole). Sipo mahogany (aka "Sipo" or "Utile") is a species from African forests, genetically related to Sapele. It is generally considered by the music industry to be one of the most promising alternatives to genuine mahogany (especially for guitar necks).MaintenanceNitrocellulose varnish, as on vintage Gibson guitars, plays a major role in the instrument's "breathing" thanks to its porous nature (vibrations are not muffled by the varnish). To avoid damaging your guitar, we recommend Hercules stands, whose foams are based on a specific non-abrasive formula.
