Double cut electric guitar
The solid body electric guitar GIBSON Modern SG Standard (SGS00EBCH1) is faithful to the spirit of the original model, faithfully reproducing its timeless sound: solid mahogany body and neck, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, Alnico II 490R & 490T pickups.
The SG story: Is there a more iconic hard rock guitar than the Gibson SG? This is the American giant's best-selling model, ahead of the Les Paul! Released in 1961 under the name "Les Paul SG", it quickly became the instrument of choice for the world's greatest artists. Angus Young, Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Frank Zappa, Pete Townshend (The Who), many of them have made their mark with a Gibson SG. Simple, effective, light, powerful, so many adjectives to qualify this piece of history that still continues to seduce new musicians every day!
Design:
The Gibson SG features a slim "double cut" mahogany body, making it an extremely light guitar. For playing on stage or simply standing for hours on end, it's a real treat for the shoulders. Two bevelled lugs give this guitar an aesthetic rooted in the world of hard rock, and provide easy access to the notes at the top of the neck for soloing. The glued neck enhances sustain and is ultra-comfortable in the palm of one hand. The neck fingerboard features 24 squares (2 more than a Les Paul), ideal for reaching very high notes!
The Standard series:
Since 1973, Gibson has offered the SG Standard series, based on a 1967 model. These Gibson SGs are equipped with Humbuckers Alnico II 490R and 498T pickups. Available in Ebony and Heritage Cherry versions, they faithfully reproduce the spirit of the original model, both visually and sonically. Here you'll find the Ebony version!
