Gibson SJ-200 Original (Baggs HiFi DNA Preamp) - vintage sunburst

Since 1937, the Gibson SJ-200 has established itself as a staple in the world of acoustic guitars, appealing to artists in the country, folk, and rock genres thanks to its rich and dynamic sound.

Overview

The GIBSON Original Collection SJ-200 (OCJB20HFVS) preserves the essence of the legendary Super Jumbo while incorporating modern innovations such as a Baggs HiFi DNA preamp. Its reputation as the “King of the Flat-tops” remains intact, making it a benchmark for many musicians.

All-solid-wood construction for exceptional acoustics

The SJ-200 is built entirely from solid wood, using woods selected for their tonal qualities. Its Sitka spruce top, maple body and neck, and rosewood fingerboard (20 frets) give this guitar an instantly recognizable tone:

• Clear and powerful tones
• Well-defined mids and highs with excellent articulation
• Precise and responsive bass tones
• A warm, enveloping acoustic tone thanks to its Super Jumbo body size

This combination of features makes it an ideal choice for singers, songwriters, and fans of country, Americana, or traditional folk music.

A revolutionary recording system for a natural sound

The SJ-200 Original stands out thanks to its exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system, an advanced recording technology. Unlike traditional piezo systems, this system uses two sensors placed under the bridge plate to:

• Capture the vibrations of the strings
• Record the vibrations of the soundboard

This approach delivers recordings of remarkable fidelity, reproducing the instrument’s original acoustic character more authentically. Each sensor has its own active preamp, with volume and tone controls accessible on the inner edge of the soundhole.
