Solid body electric bass
Solid-body electric bass, made in the USA, sold with Gibson hardshell case.
The GIBSON Original Collection Thunderbird Bass (BAT4SN00TBCH1) is the most iconic bass in the Gibson catalog. Introduced in 1963 on the vision of the famous Ray Dietrich (car designer, also designer of the Gibson Firebird), it features a distinctive visual identity and a dynamic, powerful sound. The original Thunderbird was built around a through-neck. This new model features a mahogany set neck with a comfortable SlimTaper profile.
The Thunderbird Bass also benefits from a Hipshot bridge that allows precise adjustment of string height and intonation, and Hipshot® Ultralite® Mini Clover tuning machines. Gibson EB Bass humbucking pickups deliver the thick, punchy tones that have made the Thunderbird such a success.
The nitrocellulose varnish, as on vintage Gibson instruments, plays a major role in the instrument's "breathability" (vibrations are not muffled by the varnish). On the other hand, this varnish is relatively sensitive to contact with the plastics and foams of certain stands, as well as to certain cleaning products that are too detergent.
