Electric guitar amp head
Reissue of the DR504, the 50w version of the DR103. The only other amp with the notoriety of having contributed, as early as 1970, to making Hiwatt sound mythical.
With half the tubes and power of its predecessor, it offers the same sound quality, yet can crunch at a lower volume, ideal for recording.
Like the DR103, the DR504 is characterized by a clear, elegant sound that enhances effects pedals, and can maintain its integrity even at volumes beyond comprehension. This makes it ideal for use with all types of instruments, including basses, keyboards and acoustic instruments.
It owes this sound quality to David Reeve's original, unique, almost Hi-Fi design, military-grade point-to-point wiring modeled on the work of Harry Joice, and a rigorous selection of the finest components. These include the famous Partridge™ transformer, specifically designed for vintage Hiwatt amps and reissued for new models. Like the DR103, the DR504 is handcrafted in England.
By bridging the two inputs and lowering the power to 50w, the DR504 achieves the wide sound range of the DR103, but offers the brand's typical crunch sound at "recording" volume. This natural, punchy drive carries a very personal British tinge thanks to the characteristic midrange boost, but in a very different way from other major British brands.
Faithful reproduction of Dave Reeve's original circuit from the late '60s.
Meticulously hand-wired in England, in the style of Harry Joyce and his military-grade rigor.
A first-rate pedal platform, appreciated for the definition of its clean sound and its reserve of power so as not to distort the effects. The pedals remain true to themselves, with no need for effects loops.
Versatile and intuitive, it's perfect for revealing pickups lacking in brilliance or for attenuating the treble of overly strident pickups.
Bridge channels for extra gain and punch, and experience the sound for which Hiwatt is famous.
An ultra-versatile amp that accepts many different instruments: basses, keyboards, synths and other instruments, even acoustic ones.
