Like all models in the JS range, the IBANEZ Made In Japan Joe Satriani JS2GD solid body electric guitar excels in Blues, Hard-Rock and Heavy Metal.
The level of lutherie-finishing is Custom shop grade, and its components are hand-picked: Alder body, bolt-on neck Maple, 22-fret Jescar EVOgold™ Rosewood fingerboard, Ibanez Edge double-lock vibrato, trio of Dimarzio Satch Track (neck/center stack) + FRED (humbucking pickup bridge) pickups.
The JS2GD's control system is enhanced by a push/pull Hi-pass filter function on the volume control (preserves the level of high frequencies when the guitar volume is turned down) and a push/pull Coil-tap switch on the tone control (allows only one of the bridge pickup's two coils to be used). Instead of the usual five-position selector, we have a min-switch on/off for each pickup. All options combined, this gives a total of fourteen sound options.
