Over time, different Muff circuits have had different gain levels, so KMA Machines has selected 3 very distinct gain structures: Vintage mode (VTG) will give you all the nuances of an overdrive, Tight mode will give a more modern, tight sound with less bass and biting harmonics, Heavy mode is the essence of the Muff sound: heavy, thick, with sustain, big bass and mellow mids.

More modern flexibility has been added with Bass and Treble controls that boost or cut bass and treble by up to 15dB, while parametric midrange EQ has settings for center frequency and a Cut/Boost selector. Center frequency can be controlled by an external expression pedal, frequency width (Q) has its own internal setting, and midrange has its own Mids footswitch. With highly saturated mids and lows, there can be the impression of a loss of treble, which can be remedied with the Top Boost selector, whose level can be adjusted internally. To preserve your original sound, the Chief Disruptor has a Clean setting to dose the sound of your instrument, and a selector to define its insertion point. Insert your original signal before the EQ section for a more cohesive sound, or place it after EQ so that it is not affected at all.
