Monitor controller

The Palmer MONICON L G2 is a monitoring controller designed for advanced home studios and project studios that use multiple sources and multiple listening systems. It centralizes input selection, speaker selection, and monitoring level control from the desk, featuring a main analog audio path.

Key Features

  • 3 stereo sources: balanced main input via XLR/TRS combo jack, AUX input via RCA, and Bluetooth.
  • 2 stereo outputs and 1 mono output via balanced XLR connectors to manage multiple monitoring systems.
  • Large analog knob for directly adjusting the monitoring level.
  • Mono, Dim, and Mute controls accessible without using the audio interface software.
  • Headphone output with independent volume control and PFL function.
  • Latency-free analog audio path for the main signal.

Quickly switch between sources

The MONICON L G2 supports a balanced stereo source via two XLR/TRS combo jacks, an analog AUX source via RCA, and a Bluetooth source. This allows you to keep an audio interface, an external player, and a mobile device connected at all times, then select the source directly from the controller.

The AUX input and Bluetooth connection each have a dedicated level control. For the main connection between an audio interface and the controller, the balanced inputs are suitable for studio setups.

Manage two pairs of speakers and a mono output

Two balanced stereo XLR outputs allow you to connect two monitoring systems and select between them from the MONICON L G2. This configuration makes it easy, for example, to compare a mix between a main pair and a second pair of near-field speakers.

A third balanced mono output is also available. It can be used with a system requiring a mono signal, particularly in a setup that includes a subwoofer or a dedicated monitor speaker, provided that the routing matches the system being used.

Control the level without additional digital processing

The master volume control operates on a fully analog signal path. Palmer thus promises latency-free operation for the main monitoring, with no added digital conversion between the source and the outputs.

The controller combines passive operation with active functions. The power supply is used primarily for Bluetooth, the headphone amplifier, and the third output, while the main audio path remains analog.

Quickly check a mix with Mono, Dim, and Mute

The Mono, Dim, and Mute controls are directly accessible on the unit. Mono lets you check a mix’s compatibility when it’s routed to a single channel; Dim immediately reduces the listening level; and Mute mutes the outputs without changing the position of the main knob.

Pre-listen to a source through headphones

The 6.35 mm headphone output has its own volume control. The PFL function lets you listen to a source through headphones without changing the main monitoring level, which is useful for checking a signal before sending it to the speakers.

A Format Suited for the Workstation

With its desktop enclosure and easily accessible controls, the MONICON L G2 eliminates the need to constantly return to the audio interface or control software. It is particularly well-suited for studios that use multiple sources or monitoring setups and require simple, physical control over monitoring.

If your setup is limited to a single source and a single pair of speakers, a simpler controller may suffice. The MONICON L G2’s value becomes most apparent when input selection, listening comparisons, and Mono, Dim, or Mute controls are used regularly.
