Control the volume without using software

The MONICON M G2 G is installed between a line-level source and the monitoring system. Its large potentiometer directly controls the level sent to the speakers, eliminating the need to rely on software settings from the computer or audio interface while working.

Its circuitry is entirely analog and passive. It therefore requires no power supply and adds neither digital conversion nor latency to the signal path.

Connecting it to an audio interface or a compact source

The stereo input can accept a balanced signal via two XLR/TRS combo connectors. This connection is particularly suitable for an audio interface equipped with professional line outputs.

An unbalanced stereo input via a 3.5 mm mini-jack is also available for computers or other devices with this connection type. Balanced connections are preferred whenever the setup and equipment allow, especially for longer cable runs.

Using Studio Monitors or Compact Speakers

The main output is available as balanced stereo via two XLR connectors for connecting active studio monitors. An unbalanced 3.5 mm mini-jack output also allows you to connect a speaker system with this type of input.

The MONICON M G2 G supports a single pair of monitors. If the studio needs to switch regularly between multiple pairs of monitors or multiple sources, a controller with more inputs and outputs, such as the MONICON L G2, will be more suitable.

Quickly Check a Mix with Mono, Dim, and Mute

The Mono function combines both channels to check how the mix sounds in mono. Dim temporarily reduces the level without changing the position of the main fader, while Mute immediately cuts off the signal sent to the speakers.

These three controls are directly accessible on the unit, allowing you to perform these checks without having to adjust settings in the production software or the audio interface’s control panel.

A Simple Controller for a Desktop Setup

Measuring 160 x 62 x 106 mm and weighing 480 g, the MONICON M G2 G takes up very little space next to a keyboard or audio interface. Its aluminum and sheet steel housing makes it suitable for permanent installation at a production, editing, or mixing station.

Its main appeal lies in its simplicity: it controls a stereo source and a monitoring system without Bluetooth, a headphone output, or support for multiple pairs of speakers. These additional features require upgrading to a more comprehensive monitoring controller.
