Monitor controller
The Palmer MONICON S G2 G is a highly compact passive volume controller designed for small home studios, production setups, and mobile configurations. It connects between a stereo RCA source and a pair of active speakers to adjust the listening level using a dedicated physical control.
Key Features
- Large analog potentiometer for direct adjustment of the listening level.
- Stereo RCA input and output for easy integration with a line source and compatible active speakers.
- MONO switch for quickly checking the mono compatibility of a mix.
- Fully passive operation, with no power supply required.
- Analog signal path with no latency associated with digital processing.
- Measures 86 x 39 x 66 mm and weighs 120 g, making it ideal for a small desk or a mobile setup.
Dedicated volume control between the source and the speakers
The MONICON S G2 G eliminates the need to rely solely on the volume control of a computer or audio interface. Its large potentiometer serves as the main control for the level sent to the monitoring system.
It does not replace an audio interface or an amplifier. It must receive a line-level signal and is designed for use with active speakers or with an amplifier connected downstream in the audio chain.
RCA Connectors for Simple Setups
The unit features a stereo input and a stereo output, each consisting of two RCA jacks. This unbalanced connection is suitable for audio interfaces, mixing consoles, and other line-level sources that have RCA outputs or can be connected to them with the appropriate cabling.
The MONICON S G2 G does not offer balanced XLR or TRS jack connections. It is therefore best suited for compact setups where the RCA connection is already compatible with the equipment being used.
Check a mix in mono without changing the session
The MONO switch allows you to listen to the stereo signal in mono directly from the controller. This check helps identify elements whose balance changes during summing or phase issues that may become apparent when listening in mono.
Passive operation without a power supply
The MONICON S G2 G requires neither a power adapter nor a USB connection to operate. Its audio path remains analog and introduces no latency associated with digital conversion or processing.
This deliberately simple design also means a limited number of features: the model offers no dedicated headphone output, no selection of multiple speaker pairs, and no DIM or MUTE controls.
A size suited for very compact desks
Measuring 86 mm wide, 39 mm high, 66 mm deep, and weighing 120 g, the MONICON S G2 G takes up very little space next to an audio interface or laptop. Its enclosure combines plastic and sheet steel.
