Monitor controller
The Palmer MONICON S G2 is a highly compact passive volume controller designed for home studios, multimedia setups, and mobile configurations. It connects between a stereo source (via RCA) and an active monitoring system, keeping the volume control right at your fingertips.
Key Features
- Large analog potentiometer for adjusting the listening level without using software controls.
- Stereo RCA input and output for easy integration with a line-level source and compatible active speakers.
- MONO switch for quickly checking how a mix sounds when summed to mono.
- Fully passive operation, with no AC or USB power required.
- Analog signal path with no latency associated with digital processing.
- Measuring 86 x 39 x 66 mm and weighing 120 g, it fits easily on a small desk or in a mobile setup.
A physical volume control at your fingertips
The MONICON S G2 allows you to adjust the level sent to the speakers using its large knob, without having to switch back to the software or the audio interface’s output control. It is therefore ideal for setups where you want a dedicated volume control between the source and the monitoring system.
It does not replace an audio interface or an amplifier. It must receive a line-level signal and be connected to active speakers or to an amplifier placed further down the audio chain.
RCA connectors suitable for compact setups
The controller features a stereo RCA input and a stereo RCA output. It can therefore be installed between an audio interface, a mixing console, or another compatible line-level source and a pair of active speakers equipped with the appropriate connectors.
The MONICON S G2 does not offer balanced XLR or TRS jack connections. It is therefore most suitable when the setup already uses RCA connections over short distances.
Quickly Check Mono Compatibility
The MONO switch allows you to sum the stereo signal to immediately check how the mix sounds in mono. This feature is particularly helpful for identifying balance shifts or phase issues that may arise during summing.
Passive Operation Without Power
The MONICON S G2 operates without an external power supply. Its audio path remains analog and does not introduce latency associated with digital conversion or processing.
This design is intentionally simple: the unit offers no dedicated headphone output, no selection of multiple speaker pairs, and no DIM or MUTE controls.
A Compact Design for Small Spaces
Measuring 86 x 39 x 66 mm and weighing 120 g, the MONICON S G2 takes up very little space next to an audio interface or computer. Its chassis combines sheet steel and plastic with a powder-coated finish.
