Retro rock electric guitar
Unique copy bearing the serial number 4299.00. Net weight (without case): 3.07 kg.
Well-known to the general public since his collaboration with Bob Taylor, Andy Powers is an American Master Luthier responsible for many outstanding technical improvements (V-Class bracing). Combining design elements from Southern California's surf, skate, hot rod, architectural and automotive cultures, Powers Electric electric guitars are beautifully distinctive, high-end instruments. Powers Electric guitars are produced in very limited numbers.
The A-type is Andy Powers' very first hollow-body electric. Its name is inspired by the nomenclature of Jaguar cars. Ergonomic, inspiring and elegant, the A-type honors the musician's identity. This POWERS ELECTRIC A-Type FF-42 CamTail #393 features a body in Urban Ash, a solid Maple top (figured or plain depending on color) backed by dams, a set neck in Mahogany and a Honduras Rosewood fingerboard. The body structure is inspired by that of a violin. The top and back vibrate in concert, maximizing resonance, exacerbating note sustain and eliminating the feedback inherent in this type of hollowed-out body. Lightweight and ideally balanced whatever your playing posture, its comfort is beyond reproach.
The neck profile will undoubtedly win consensus in an interesting traditional/modern compromise. The 21-fret fingerboard has a special radius geometry. It is less pronounced on the treble side, to facilitate playing and especially string gauges. The 24.7/8" scale is also intermediate between a Les Paul© and a Stratocaster©. Powers Electric pickups allow the strings to vibrate naturally. They generate warm tones that respect the deep temperament of the instrument. Two models are available, with the Full Faraday FF-42 full and generous, and the Partial Faraday PF42 more incisive and glossy. The A-type is offered with a traditional "hardtail" fixed bridge, or a CamTail vibrato. The latter can be considered an improved Bigsby, extremely reliable and expressive.
Traditional vibratos don't preserve the harmonic intervals between strings. Thanks to a compensation system adapted to the tension and diameter of each string, these intervals will be maintained with the CamTail.
What's more, it features a disengageable "zero-point return" locking system that stabilizes it in its initial position. This means you can enjoy the same sensations as with a guitar equipped with a fixed bridge.
