Turntable
The Reloop RP-2000 MK4 is a direct-drive turntable designed for DJs who want to mix on vinyl without paying the price of a high-end turntable. It builds on the fundamentals that have made the RP series a staple at Reloop for several generations: a quartz motor, an SME tonearm, and a included cartridge. If you’re looking for a reliable turntable for practice or regular gigs, offering good value for the price given its built-in components, this is the model for you.
Highlights
- Quartz-controlled direct-drive motor: high starting torque and spins up in less than a second; you’ll be back at full speed right after a backspin without the motor stalling
- Low wobble and jitter, stable rotation: the pitch doesn’t drift during a mix, even over a long set
- Two speeds (33? and 45 rpm) and ±8% pitch with center click: you can feel the original tempo by touch, without looking at the screen
- Precision-machined die-cast aluminum platter: its inertia absorbs the jolts of scratching without slowing the rotation
- Statically balanced S-shaped tonearm with universal SME mount, anti-skating, and adjustable tracking force: the stylus stays in the groove during manipulation, and you can change cartridges without changing the tonearm
- Ortofon OM Black cartridge included, already mounted on the cartridge holder: nothing extra to buy or align—just plug it in and start mixing
- Reinforced chassis and shock-absorbing feet: fewer vibrations transmitted to the stylus, meaning less feedback and skipping in clubs or on the go
- Retractable light at the stylus tip: you can see where to place the stylus without lighting up the entire booth
Direct-drive quartz motor: the torque you need for scratching and backspin
The motor drives the platter directly, without a belt or intermediate pulley, resulting in significantly higher starting torque than a belt-driven turntable. Quartz control locks in the tempo regardless of vibrations or ambient temperature. In practice, the spin-up time is less than a second: after a backspin or an abrupt stop, the turntable resumes at full speed almost instantly, without you losing the flow of the transition. Wobble and flicker (the micro-variations in speed that make the pitch sound unstable to the ear) remain minimal, so the tempo stays consistent even during a long mix.
±8% pitch range and center click: lock in the tempo without spending the whole evening on it
The ±8% pitch range (the slider that speeds up or slows down the track to match the next one) covers most of the tempo differences you’ll encounter when mixing vinyl. The center notch marks a clear reference point at 0%, the record’s original tempo: you can feel it with your finger without having to look at the screen, which is handy for returning to the native tempo between tracks. The two speeds—33? and 45 rpm—cover everything from albums to 45s, which you often come across in clubs or while digging.
SME tonearm and Ortofon OM Black cartridge: ready to mix right out of the box
The S-shaped tonearm is statically balanced, meaning its weight is distributed so that it doesn’t press harder on one side of the record than the other. Anti-skating (which compensates for the force that naturally pushes the stylus toward the center of the record) and adjustable tracking force prevent the stylus from skipping during hard scratching. The universal SME connection means you can remove the cartridge holder and swap out the cartridge without replacing the entire tonearm—a handy feature if you want to upgrade your turntable later. Reloop ships the RP-2000 MK4 with an Ortofon OM Black cartridge already mounted on the included cartridge holder: no need to order a cartridge separately or align it yourself.
Reinforced chassis and anti-vibration feet: keep up the pace in clubs or on the go
The chassis has been reinforced and the feet absorb shocks, which limits the transmission of vibrations (from speakers, a moving crowd, or a shaking table) to the cartridge. Fewer vibrations mean less feedback (the whistling sound that occurs when sound from the speakers feeds back into the stylus) and fewer skips in the middle of a mix. One final detail rounds out the package: a retractable light at the turntable’s tonearm tip, so you can see where to place the needle without lighting up the entire booth. A dust cover is available as an option if you store the turntable between sessions.
