Laurent Hassoun established Roadrunner Custom Guitars in Nancy in 1994. An authentic craftsman, he designs and handcrafts many types of instruments (solidbody electric guitars, archtops, acoustics, basses, lapsteels, ukeleles, as well as effects, amps, pickups and various parts) from premium-quality components, most of them homemade. His creations are ostensibly inspired by various designs from the 1960's. Laurent Hassoun has a keen ear for musicians, having himself played guitar and bass with the band Squares (several albums for European and American labels, Hangman, Mojo, Estrus, Royal Records). He also developed the "Supersonic" fuzz, which was used to great effect by Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top (in a live performance on French TV in 1997). Over the years he has also collaborated with prestigious artists such as Bo Diddley, Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Billy Childish, Les Wampas, Sanseverino, Axel Bauer, Shanka (No One is innocent), Parabellum, Silmarils and more recently Ben Harper, Heavy Trash or The Kills.
