The Rode VideoMicrophone is a compact microphone designed to improve the audio quality of your videos. It features a high quality cardioid condenser microphone capsule, for superb audio recordings, and can be used with a wide range of cameras.

A directional microphone, the VideoMicrophone reduces peripheral sounds and focuses on the audio in front of the camera. Its pickup is more forgiving than others on the RODE camera microphones offering a more natural sound when recording indoors.

The microphone body is made of aluminum, which gives it a high level of wave rejection, and the finish is a high-quality black anti-reflective Rode ceramic coating. The VideoMicro includes a camera mounting shoe and Rycote Lyre suspension. Featuring a suspension structure made of a wear-resistant thermoplastic material, the latter is much more effective at minimizing unwanted vibration, handling, and cable-pass noise. Also included is the WS9 synthetic fur windscreen, specially designed for outdoor use where wind and ambient noise can spoil recordings.

Available as an option is the Rode SC7 (TRS to TRRS) cable, which allows the VideoMicro to be used with smartphones to capture clear directional sound for video and dedicated applications such as Periscope, Vine or Instagram.
