Overview
Manufactured in China under Warwick’s supervision, the SADOWSKY MetroExpress 21-Fret Vintage J/J Bass, Roasted Maple Fingerboard, 4-String (SMX21VJ4 J2R OKU FR) is a remarkable reinterpretation of an American solid-body electric bass. Built with high-quality components and crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the MetroExpress produces tones worthy of much more expensive models.
High-quality craftsmanship for a rich, dynamic sound
The Sadowsky SMX21VJ’s construction features:
- An Okoume body
- A bolt-on neck made of roasted maple (C-profile)
- A Morado fretboard (21 fretboard markers, 34" scale length, 12" radius)
The Benefits of Roasted Wood for Better Performance
The torrefaction process not only enhances the wood’s elegant patina but also improves its stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance. It also protects the instrument from temperature fluctuations, humidity, and mold, ensuring greater longevity.
Okoume and Morado: Wood Species That Enhance Sound
Used for decades in the maritime and aerospace industries, Okoume—native to West Africa—is a wood of choice for electric guitars. This lightweight, low-density wood, comparable to high-quality mahogany, offers more pronounced high frequencies and an extended dynamic range, thereby enhancing the instrument’s clarity.
Morado, also known as Pau Ferro, is used for the bass fingerboard. Native to the forests of Brazil and Bolivia, its high density produces a tone that blends rosewood and maple, while offering a very pleasant feel reminiscent of ebony.
