The instrument features a “Swamp Ash” body with tone chambers (to reduce the instrument’s weight without altering its core character), a bolt-on maple neck, and a maple fingerboard (set with 21 frets).
This traditional combination of woods produces a sound that is both full-bodied and responsive, dense and precise, with dynamic lows, balanced mids, and dynamic, crystalline highs.

The Hybrid P/J Bass is equipped with a pair of passive pickups—a Sadowsky P-Style (neck) and a hum-canceling J-Style (bridge)—that produce warm, expressive tones without background noise.
The Sadowsky active preamp is both simple and versatile. The VTC (Vintage Tone Control) filter effectively complements the traditional tone controls by attenuating high frequencies to give your tones an authentic vintage character (much as if the bass were passive). The VTC knob is a push/pull type, allowing you to bypass the circuit for an even more organic sound.
